Indonesian Migrant Workers Are Provided with Five Special Facilities

19 Dec 2020

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II together with the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) have prepared five special facilities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang City, Banten, for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI).

Symbolically, SOE Minister Erick Thohir together with the Head of BP2MI Benny Ramdani inaugurated the facility on Friday (18/12), coinciding with International Migrant Workers Day (International Migrant Day).

SOE Minister Erick Thohir in an official statement received in Jakarta, Saturday (19/12), said that this facility is the result of collaboration between various agencies to provide the best service for foreign exchange heroes.

"It is proven that today the state is present. We can show that our nation is advancing in class. All this can be done as long as we dare to dream and dare to execute," said Erick.

President Director of PT AP II, Muhammad Awaluddin said there were five special facilities for Indonesian foreign exchange heroes. First, special immigration lane facilities to support the smooth return of PMI.

"So far, the special lane is only available for holders of diplomatic passports, flight crews, and airline passengers in business class and first class. This is a form of respect for all Soekarno-Hatta Airport stakeholders for PMI who have contributed greatly to Indonesia," said Awaluddin.

Second, the lounge for PMI which is located in the International Terminal 3 area. The lounge is equipped with facilities like the executive lounge at the airport. In addition, in the lounge there is also a money changer operated by BNI to make it easier for PMI to exchange currency according to the destination country.

Third, the help desk center area in Terminal 3 which can provide various information to PMI upon returning from abroad. Fourth, a booth gallery for sales and promotions by displaying products from PMI who have returned to Indonesia and have become entrepreneurs.

And the fifth facility is that all digital media in the Terminal 3 area can be used to inform the BP2MI program for PMI services and protection.

AP II as the state-owned airport operator also strengthens coordination with other stakeholders at the airport to always provide protection for PMI. "PMI are special citizens, VVIP residents, foreign exchange heroes whose protection must be guaranteed, including at the airport. This is in accordance with President Joko Widodo's direction," said Awaluddin.
